Lila Forde On The Voice
Lila Forde was one of the season’s early favorites. Seattle-born vocalist with a deep voice who is now making her debut album won the coveted Four-Chair Turn early on and made a name for herself as one of the singers to watch this season. Let’s look back at Lila’s journey to the Finals, where she will join other finalists Ruby Leigh, Huntley, Jacquie Roar, and Mara Justine.
Lila debuted her Blind Audition by sitting at a keyboard and singing Blind Faith’s Can’t Find My Way Home, and she instantly became a fan favorite. She had a choice of Coaches after the Four-Chair Turn, but she chose fellow soulful singer John Legend, who has continuously hailed her as a mature musician with a promising future.
In the third round of Season 24 Battles, Forde made her next appearance. There, she defeated JaRae Womack in a duet of the famous Lori Lieberman song “Killing Me Softly with His Song.” Next came the knockouts, when Forde’s rendition of James Taylor’s “Fire and Rain” sent her over the top once more, defeating fellow Team Legend vocalists Deejay Young and Stee in the process.
Lila proved to be one of the season’s best vocalists once more in the Playoffs’ last round, when she sang John Prine’s “Angel from Montgomery” and advanced to the Live Shows with fellow Team Legend vocalists Azan and Mac Royals. Throughout the Live Shows, Forde demonstrated her mettle once more by winning a popular vote for her rendition of the Indigo Girls’ “Closer to Fine.”
She then won over the public once more in the Semifinals with her rendition of Joni Mitchell’s “River,” cementing her place among the top four vocalists on the program in the eyes of the audience. Forde is one of three finalists who will never be stolen or saved, along with Huntley and Ruby Leigh, which makes things even more amazing.
