V Rising: Matka The Curse Weaver Location
Matka the Curse Weaver is located in the northern part of the Cursed Forest of V Rising. As always, ensure you've unlocked the Vampire Waygate to easily teleport to the area after dying to Matka your first few times (it's unavoidable, sorry). From the Waygate, follow the road until you reach the Nest of the Curse Weaver. This is where you will find Matka the Curse Weaver. The cursed forest can be an extremely brutal biome with multiple witches and werewolves along the path to the boss. So be speedy and stealthy to preserve your blood and resources for the fight.
V Rising: How To Beat Matka The Curse Weaver
Matka the Curse Weaver is a Level 72 boss -- so it goes without saying that she is extremely tough as an opponent. For this reason, we recommend being at least a Gear Score of 68 or higher when challenging her. This fight is also virtually impossible during the day as there is no real cover from the sun. In addition, the little cover on the arena's edge is often destroyed by her magic AOE spells anyway.
Recommended Blood Types
Creature Blood of 50% or higher Blood Quality is recommended for this fight, as movement speed is incredibly important to ensure your survival. In V Rising, Matka the Curse Weaver has multiple slows and can hex you. This is where Creature Blood Type comes in handy, allowing you to dodge various attacks without using your Travel spell.
Warrior Blood and Brute Blood are also fantastic for this fight, as you will have multiple units in melee range throughout the fight, including Matka the Curse Weaver. Warrior blood will mitigate the damage taken, and Brute Blood is used for life-leeching off the smaller units in the fight.
Recommended Spells & Weapons
We recommend using the Veil of Chaos Travel Ability, as Matka the Curse Weaver shoots many projectiles and summons multiple mosquitos in V Rising. The Veil of Blood is a notable alternative, as it allows you to heal off Matka the Curse Weaver or the mosquitos she summons, prolonging the fight and giving you a better chance of survival.
The Veil of Illusion is best reserved for advanced players looking to make plays by jumping back to their illusion left after the initial jump. As for defensive spells, we suggest using Chaos Barrier. The main reason for this is that it will not only reflect damage to Matka the Curse Weaver but protect you from the charging attacks from the mosquitos she summons. Now that we have covered defensive spells let's review some offensive abilities.
We suggest equipping Chaos Volley and Frost Bat for consistent damage throughout all battle phases. These fast projectile attacks can be useful at blasting down Matka's HP; however, you'll need to make the most of the few opportunities you'll have to use them. Slow AOE spells are not recommended here. Instead, be patient with this battle.
In V Rising, Matka the Curse Weaver is not very mobile and often stands in place while she launches attacks in an AOE around her. As a result, you can use a Reaper build to throw out your scythe over a range, dealing damage while you dodge her spells. However, the Crossbow is not recommended because the mosquitos will often block the shot, meaning you can only occasionally use the special AOE ability of the Crossbow, not the normal attacks.
Battle Phases
Matka the Curse Weaver has multiple phases to her boss battle. At the beginning of the fight, she will launch a spread of damaging projectiles in front of her. This is where your barrier will come into play. Then, she will launch damaging lines of green magic that do insane damage -- these are slower and easier to dodge than the first waves. The more dangerous abilities include the homing AOE explosions that will occur at your current location after a 1-second delay.
If one of these explosions hits you, you will be slowed dramatically. This is where your Veil of choice and the Creature Blood Type come into play. Assuming you're still alive, you'll enter Phase 2 of your battle with Matka the Curse Weaver. Specifically, this sees her summoning mosquitos to come after you. The mosquitos will at first perform regular and charging attacks, but after a while, Matka will activate the mosquitos' self-destruct mode.
When this happens, the mosquitos will chase you down and explode after a timer dealing huge damage. During this time, Matka will also activate a spell that can hex you, temporarily turning you into a small animal and immobilizing you completely. While Hexed, you can only dodge attacks with your movement speed and skill. The Ultimate Ability Heart Strike (learned by killing Willfred the Werewolf Chief) is recommended to cut through the mosquitos quickly and heal up during this fight.
V Rising: Matka The Curse Weaver Rewards
The rewards for defeating Matka the Curse Weaver in V Rising include the ability Unstable Mosquito, the recipe for Schematics, and the recipe for Mosquito. Unstable Mosquito allows you to summon a small mosquito that will chase an enemy down and explode. Unstable Mosquito deals 70% magic damage and applies the Amplify debuff that increases damage taken by 25% for 5 seconds.
You'll also receive the recipe to craft Schematics, which allows you to unlock any of the remaining technology in the Athenaeum. The third and final reward for defeating Matka the Curse Weaver is the Mosquito recipe, which can be used to produce mosquitos at the base to farm. They will each spawn with a random blood type and drop Scales upon death. And that's it. We hope you enjoyed this guide on how to beat Matka the Curse Weaver in V Rising.
