Omar Sy is a popular actor, writer, comedian, television personality, and Hollywood star from France. Moreover, Omar Sy is best known for his role in the 2011 comedy-drama film Intouchables, which earned him the César Award for Best Actor, making him the first Black recipient of the award.

Talking about his professional career, Omar Sy started as a radio host for Radio Nova, where he met his comedic partner Fred Testot. After working on the radio, he created his TV show called Le Visiophon.

After that, he started in various TV and stage shows such as “Je ne fais pas mon âge” and “Omar et Fred: le spectacle.” With his fellow friend Testot, he co-hosted the Frech short comedy television series “Service après-vente des émissions,” from 2005 to 2012 on Canal+ until it was canceled.

Similarly, he appeared in the 2006 television game show “Fort Boyard.” In addition, he was featured in French comedy movies, including “Nos jours heureux “(2006), “Tellement Proches” (2009), and the arthouse film “Micmacs” (2009).

He has also lent his voice to Zip in the French version of the “Tomb Raider Legend” video game. Prior, he also voiced a sheep in the 2003 Disney animated movie “Brother Bear.”

Later, he starred in the 2011 movie “The Intouchables” playing a streetwise young man who becomes the personal care assistant to a wealthy quadriplegic. The movie was a huge hit, topping the French box office in 2011 and becoming the best-selling French film of all time in its native country, with more than 19 million tickets sold.

For his role in the movie, he earned several awards and also was voted third favorite French personality behind Yannick Noah and Zinedine Zidane.

He played the role of Bishop, in the 2014 American superhero movie “X-Men: Days of Future Past.” That same year, he appeared in the French comedy film “Samba” portraying the role of Samba Cissé.

Similarly, he co-starred in the fourth installment of the Jurassic Park franchise, Jurassic World. The movie was released in June 2015. Later, he played a compromised chef in the 2017 American comedy-drama movie “Burnt.”

That same year, he lent his voice to the character Hot Rod in the film “Transformers: The Last Knight,” the fifth installment in the Transformers series. In 2018, he played Sebastian Bouchard in the French police comedy movie “Le flic de Belleville.

Later, in 2019, he appeared in two movies “Le Chant du Loup” and “Arctic Dogs.” He lent his voice to the character Joe Gardner in the 2020 American computer-animated comedy movie “Soul.”

Recently in 2022, he appeared in three movies “The Takedown,” “Father & Soldier,” and “Jurassic World Dominion.” His next upcoming movies project in which he is currently working is “Le Chat du Rabbin”, and “The Book of Clarence.”

He has also worked in several television series and television movies. However, his most recognized television roles are  “SAV des émissions” (2010-2012) as Various, and “Bref” (2012) as Party Guest on Phone.

Recently, he starred in the 2021 Netflix hit series “Lupin,” a modern-day retelling of Arsène Lupin novels. The series has become one of the most-watched non-English series on Netflix. Due to its success, Sy has signed a multi-year feature film deal with Netflix.
