Basketball enthusiasts are curious to know where is Jeremy Lin now, as he was a top NBA player once, check out to know about the reason behind Jeremy Lin leaving NBA.

Who is Jeremy Lin?

Jeremy Shu-How Lin is a professional basketball player of Taiwanese-American descent, currently playing for the Kaohsiung 17LIVE Steelers of the P. League+ (PLG). He led a surprising winning streak with the New York Knicks of the National Basketball Association (NBA) during the 2011–12 season, which created a cultural phenomenon that became known as "Linsanity".

Lin was the first individual of Chinese or Taiwanese origin to play in the NBA and one of the few Asian Americans to have done so. In 2019, he became the first Asian American to win an NBA championship with the Toronto Raptors.

Lin, who grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area, was awarded Northern California Basketball Player of the Year in his final year of high school. Despite this, he did not receive any athletic scholarship offers and instead enrolled at Harvard University. While there, he earned three all-conference honors in the Ivy League. Following his graduation, Lin went undrafted but was eventually signed by his hometown team, the Golden State Warriors, in 2010.

Where is Jeremy Lin Now?

In December 2022, Jeremy Lin, who gained widespread attention in New York during his remarkable performance with the Knicks in 2012, announced that he was departing from the Chinese Basketball Association and ending his season early with the Guangzhou Loong Lions. Lin intends to return to the United States but has not yet determined his future in basketball. In an Instagram post, Lin stated, "After careful consideration, I have decided to leave the CBA.

Expressing his gratitude, he thanked the CBA, Guangzhou, his coaches, teammates, and fans, and acknowledged the difficulty he has experienced in being unable to play basketball in front of his supporters for the last three years. He also promised to keep his fans updated once he made a decision. Lin had been contributing an average of seven points and two assists per game for Guangzhou, which has a record of 8-12 this season. Lin, who is 34 years old, last played for the Long Lions on December 20th.

Why Jeremy Lin Left NBA?

Even after four years, Lin remains uneasy about the way things unfolded and believes that race played a part in his exclusion from the NBA. Following the end of the season, Lin became a free agent but was not offered a contract. At an event held in Taiwan that summer, Lin tearfully expressed his feelings that the NBA had abandoned him.

On February 6, 2012, Lin made his debut in the starting lineup of the Knicks and scored 28 points against the Utah Jazz. Throughout the 2011–12 season, he played in 35 games, starting in 25 of them, and averaged about 15 points and 6 assists per game. All of his games were played in February and March, as he sustained a knee injury that prevented him from playing in the postseason with the Knicks.

What Does Jeremy Lin Do Now?

In an effort to make a comeback to the NBA, Lin played with the Warriors' developmental squad in 2021. However, he returned to the Chinese Basketball Association and played for the Ducks and then the Guangzhou Loong Lions. Lin departed from the Loong Lions in the middle of the 2022–23 season and subsequently joined the Kaohsiung 17LIVE Steelers of the P. League+ (PLG) in 2023.

In 2022, Lin joined the Guangzhou Loong Lions for the basketball season. However, on December 2 of that year, he was fined 10,000 yuan ($1,400) by the CBA for "inappropriate remarks about quarantine hotel-related facilities" amidst the COVID-19 protests in China. Later, on December 29, Lin declared that he had left the team for the rest of the season. Lin participated in seven games for Guangzhou, where he averaged 11.6 minutes, 6.9 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game.
